My educational passions and superpowers
Having spent the majority of my career in junior school I feel I have a real strength and passion for teaching and learning at this level. It is so important to me that we as teachers are ready to step up and meet our students where they are on their journey, supporting the recognition and understanding of all students including those with neurodiversity and what this means for young learners in our schools. My other area of passion is around English Language Learners and the many aspects of support that we provide as part of our RTLB service. Since joining RTLB, I have been lucky enough to train as a Bilingual Assessor. Alongside two of my colleagues we carry out these assessments for our cluster.
One of the things I love about being an RTLB is the opportunity for mana motuhake. Knowing that I have been able to empower others to move forward with confidence and mana, and seeing the difference this makes is such a privilege.
Growing student voice within the learning space and supporting the recognition and development of a strengths based approach to success is such a rewarding experience.
