Colleen Gallagher

My educational background
I am an experienced primary trained kaiako and I have taught all year levels throughout my career in classrooms. I have held a range of positions throughout my career including SENCo, PB4L Lead, Mentor for Provisionally Certified kaiako and Associate Teacher for pre-service kaiako. I completed three years of study at Te Wananga o Aotearoa prior to completing my Master of Education with an endorsement in Inclusive and Special Education in 2020. At the end of 2025 I completed my RTLB Postgraduate Diploma in Specialist Teaching.
My interests outside of work
When I’m not working you’ll find me pottering around home in my vegetable garden, spending time with whānau (three grown-up boys) and our dog Baxter or up in the Marlborough Sounds boating and catching fish. I love reading and spending time in the kitchen creating delicious food for our boys to gobble up!.
My educational passions and superpowers
I am passionate about whanaungatanga across all areas of my professional and personal life. I have a special interest in social and emotional regulation, PB4L (Positive Behaviour for Learning) and IYT (Incredible Years Teacher. As a Resource Teacher of Learning and Behaviour I am really looking forward to building relationships with our cluster schools and kaiako and working together collaboratively to help our learners have the best
chance of experiencing educational success.
